28th June 2012. THE FLOOD!
Fast forward 12 months and its difficult to comprehend how far we have actually come.
If there can ever be anything ‘good’ to come out of the flood its the fact that we now have the amost amazing gymnastics facility: World-Class without a shadow of doubt.
And we’ve had some world class help from our gymnasts, coaches, parents and local volunteers over the past 12 months to get us to the stage we’re at today.
Thank you for the community spirit and can-do attitude from everyone that cleaned, lifted, fixed, moved, scrubbed, painted, borrowed, called in favours, fed us, wiped our tears away, dealt with the set backs and provided hugs and support along the way. (Mind you, we expect nothing less from anyone involved in this great sport called gymnastics).
Please feel free to comment below and your memories of the flood last June…
My lasting memory of the flood (it has taken me a year to laugh about it because I was furious at the time) is this…Amidst all the chaos, water was seeping in through the walls, gymnasts running all around, toilets over flowing, people trying to save the floor area, parents and gymnasts bailing out the foyer: and Corina still had her girls working on beam!! Anyone else remember that?
