Job Title Head of Pre-School Gymnastics

Reporting to Gymnastics Manager / Deputy Gymnastics Manager

Weekly Hours Part-Time 20hrs / Full Time 37.5hrs

Salary Band £24000 pro rata

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to help very young children to develop their physical skills, giving them a head start in the world of physical exercise following our CNGA Pre-school programme, coaching the CNGA Way and implementing skill such as balance and co-ordination while laying the foundations of a healthy, active lifestyle while having fun however all sessions are to be energetic and entertaining to ensure all who part-take are achieving their full potential.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Instil CNGA’s Strategic Plan upholding our Equity and Safeguarding policies providing a duty of care to all young members and staff

- Lead our Pre-school programme and have the ability to lead the team

- Instil CNGA’s coaching

- Develop and deliver fun filled, structured session for children below 4 years

- Coach with a positive attitude while ensure a safe environment.

- Approachable while being proactive to promoting a good quality customer service

- Set up a safe gym environment, ensuring safe skill advancement on all equipment

- Ensure correct technique is used while supervising and spotting gymnasts

- Adapt equipment for age, ability, and size of gymnast

- To have good time management skills along with your team

- To arrive 10 minutes before your work hours to ensure set up prior to class starting time

- Provide a warm welcome for both parents and children alike, hold doors open for the conclusion of each session and interact with parents during departure times

- Assist future planning and curriculum enhancements for preschool programs

- To communicate well with both parents and very young gymnast providing feedback on progress and performance

- To provide feedback on any child’s progress and performance

- Inspire confidence

- Provide up to date administration data e.g. registers, lesson plans and a little knowledge of word and excel

- Learn our booking system and payments structure.

- Assist at our CNGA events and competition

- Provide coaching/mentor support for your team

- Demonstrate an element by breaking the task down into a safe and effective sequence (progressions)

- Undertake personal and professional development in order to further knowledge and experience.

- Comply with health and safety policy and guidelines at all times

- Comply with BG Safeguarding guidelines at all times

- Undertake other appropriate duties as assigned

- Lead and supervise classes with boys and girls ages 18 months to 5 years old (preschool age)

- Ensure classes are staffed correctly and cover is arranged when needed for classes.

- Ensure controlled class management enabling reasonable time for each gymnast for each planned activity.

- Be able to work on your own initiative and able to motivate your team

- Able to promote one’s self and team to provide an excellent customer-focused approach.

- Ensure pre-school programmes are running at maximum capacity.

Job title: Recreational Gymnastics Coach (casual)

Location: City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy

Hourly Rate: TBC

Allowances: None

Responsible to: Head of Recreational Gymnastics

The City of Newcastle Gymnastics Academy provides quality facilities and the development of gymnastics throughout the North of England. The Gymnastics Academy creates the best opportunities, inspires and develops gymnasts for all abilities.

Applicants will need:

  • Qualification Required: Minimum Level 1 WA/MA/General/TG
  • Gymnastics Coaches must be a full member of British Gymnastics and agree to abide by its rules and Code of Conduct as well as the child Protection Policy.
  • Previous experience of working with children
  • Access DBS
  • Available to work evenings and weekends

Job Duties: Working with children to help them develop their gymnastic skills, setting up and checking the equipment on a daily basis, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout all of the premises as well as the equipment. Delivering activity classes for children of all ages as well as school groups.
